Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I install the Retraflex® system at my place?
Yes, Retraflex® installation is possible in existing homes, given specific conditions. The key difference is the need for a long piping system to contain the entire hose. Additional PVC pipes can be added to the existing network, typically during renovations when walls or ceilings are open. Access through the basement ceiling or an independent system through the attic is feasible. Consult a Cyclo Vac Expert for personalized recommendations.
How reliable is the Retraflex® system?
Extremely reliable! The unique design means the hose retracts using your central vacuum's suction, eliminating any prone-to-failure mechanisms. In fact, since 2007, we haven't had a single return due to hose retraction issues!
Does installation affect reliability?
Absolutely! Following the manufacturer's recommended installation practices ensures optimal performance and longevity. Think of it as giving your Retraflex® the best foundation for a long, happy life.
What if I have doubts about my installation suitability?
No worries! Our Cyclo Vac Experts are pros at assessing homes and recommending the perfect Retraflex® setup for your unique situation. Don't hesitate to reach out – their expertise can ensure your system's reliability for years to come!
Does my central vacuum have enough power for Retraflex®?
While power (Airwatts) is important, it's not the only factor determining Retraflex® compatibility. The key element is suction strength, also known as water lift. This is because the suction itself pulls the hose back into the system.
How strong does my vacuum's suction need to be?
Unfortunately, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. Factors like hose length, piping network layout, and number of inlets all play a role. To ensure optimal performance, it's best to consult a Cyclo Vac Expert. They can assess your specific setup and recommend the ideal vacuum unit for your Retraflex® system.
What tools are necessary for installing my central vacuum system?
The installation of connections to the piping system will require basic tools such as a mitre box and a small saw or a pipe cutter. Alternatively, to streamline the process, installation kits are available. These kits include essential components such as fittings, pipes, glue, low voltage wiring, and a detailed instruction booklet. Additionally, a comprehensive installation DVD is provided, offering a step-by-step guide for the installation process.
How do I restart my vacuum once the bag has been changed or the filters cleaned?
To restart vacuums in the HX, GX, and DL series with DataSync technology, press and hold the reset button for one second. For regular models, reconnect the unit to the power outlet, and it should resume normal function.
Can I safely vacuum liquids with my Cyclovac central vacuum?
No, it is not safe to vacuum liquids with your Cyclovac central vacuum. The system is specifically designed and approved for dry use only, collecting everyday dry matter (dust). If liquids are accidentally vacuumed, promptly unplug the unit, empty and wipe the dust receptacle with a dry cloth. To eliminate any remaining moisture in the piping system, operate the system from the vacuum inlet used for liquid cleanup. Avoid using the vacuum on wet surfaces.
Do I have to install an exterior exhaust from my central vacuum system?
If your central vacuum has a bypass motor and is in a room smaller than 8' x 10', external ventilation is necessary. It's best to install an exterior exhaust for reduced noise, elimination of bacteria and mold, and redirecting motor heat outside.
